We Are The World

The only song in the history to witness so many artists under the same roof singing about the innate human nature of cooperation to make a world a better place. Co-written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie, this song is the anthem of human virtue at a global scale. MJ was supported by artists such as Ray Charles, Bob Dylan, Billy Joel, Cyndi Lauper, Chris Hayes, Bette Midler, Willie Nelson, Lionel Richie, Smokey Robinson, Kenny Rogers, Diana Ross, Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, Tina Turner and Stevie Wonder among others.
"We are the world" went on to become the biggest impact in the history of good causes. Michael was the vision behind this song and an almost frantic champion of it. It was used to raise funds to aid Africa in her battles against drought and famine during 1984. Harry Belafonte, the great singer and founder of "USA for Africa" - the group of 45 musicians that came together to sing this song - had said, "I would like not to be political, but I see no way for the issue of famine, hunger and the lack of adequate medical care for all people of the world to be settled, other than politically. But before any action can be taken, we each must on a global scale, make a commitment that all people have a right to be free from hunger and disease."
"We are the World" raised $90 million soon after its release!
